Darryl Cancer and Car Accident Medical Fund

I'm 52 years old and was diagnosed with Stage 3 Renal Cell Carcinoma of my left kidney.

There's a twist to how I found out I had Cancer.

I was in a car accident and T-boned by an uninsured driver that hit me directly on the drivers side door.

After 3 days in the hospital I was released and told to come back in 3 days for a consultation.

When  I returned for my consult, I was immediately ushered into a small exam  room with two Doctors standing there with my scans lit up in that x-ray  monitor. I was told they were not going to beat around the bush and the  Nephrologist just said... "You have stage 3 renal cell carcinoma of the  left kidney and you have ONE decision to make."

That was a life changing moment.

Fast forward 6 months:

  • I lost my Left Kidney (Nephrectomy)
  • Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) of my remaining right kidney
  • Irreparable nerve damage (Ulnar Nerve Palsy) of left arm and hand
  • Unilateral Hearing Loss of left ear
  • 153 stitches upper neck/throat with multiple layers of stitches
  • 14 stitches top left side of head
  • Chest and Upper back (T 3 left rib broke, T 4,5,6,7 right ribs cracked)
  • Neck (C 5-6, C 6-7)
  • Lower back (L 3-4, L5-S1)
  • Burning and numbness from the left buttock to my left foot
  • Poor liver function
  • Hypothyroidism

Due to the injuries I have incurred I'm not able to hold a full time job. I cannot walk, stand or sit for long periods of time.

*  The first big bill I received was from my first hospital stay. It was  $18,600 for a 3 day hospital stay.

I now face the aftermath of my hospital  stays and appointments, surgeries, treatments, medications and constant  pain from the damage of the collision as well as the years of treatments  and physical therapy to come.

The bills just keep coming in.

If half this bill could be raised it would mean the world.

Thank you for reading my story.

Darryl Newkirk

Bless you and have a wonderful day.
